3rd Devlog: Start Production

Creating a base story for world building and setting:

It's happening again. The fog, It's coming back. No one knows when it will come until you see the hazy wall of death in front of you. Somethings inside the fog. A creature, spirit, machine. There are many theories. But little facts. It consumes all. No one has come out of the fog once they go in. If you're not fast enough, Voices of the fogs victims will whisper in your ear. Inviting you to join them. Your eyes will burn like chlorine as your vision fades. It was not long ago when it started. You still remember the world as it was before. Its survival of the fittest now. With your makeshift gear you've scavenged and forged. Making it to the safehouse is your only option. Your life has become a mundane loop. Going out, collect resources, and if your lucky. Survive the fog.

For the main character we worked on the concept and the feeling we want in the clothing and aesthetic. Combining story elements and other details that will fit the environment. Once we’ve created a coherent concept we made a technical blockout for rigging and skinning. Then we will work on combining the technical blockout with the concept we created. The story will also be improved later on as the character will be developed more.

Creating our first batch of assets we needed it to fit the setting for an abandoned industrial factory, there are many machines and equipment that can offer interesting mechanics and atmosphere that can help guide the player through the level. Assets such as electrical machinery, construction equipment, traffic assistance, and a bit of foliage for an overgrown feel.

We made a prototype about projectiles and obstacles to add more threat to the menacing mist. The projectile gets launched behind the player from the chasing mist, its destination is in front of the player. The projectile uses a Bezier curve, so it gets launched in the air vertically but comes down diagonally. The fog obstacle appears when the projectile hits a surface, the obstacle slows the player down.
